a service provider who receives a written request from a law enforcement agent must immediately comply with that request if the person specified in the request is a customer of the service provider concerned.

What happens if a person does not register their existing SIM card?

Any person that is not registered will be automatically disconnected from the network or service provider.

Where can a person register their SIM card(s)?

If they are an Altech Autopage Cellular subscriber at the nearest Autopage branch or retail store.

What happens if a person does not report a stolen or destroyed SIM card?

Where a customer does not blacklist any lost, stolen or destroyed SIM card(s) or handset(s) it constitutes a criminal offence.
Customers should be aware that if a phone or SIM Card registered in their name is used in a crime they may be held accountable.
It is accordingly imperative that one always makes a note of the details of the person whom they lend their phone or SIM card to and inform their Service Provider where a phone is acquired on behalf of a family member.

What can you do in the interim to comply with RICA?

We encourage our subscribers, upon announcement of the promulgated date, to register at any of our 150 retail channels failing which their SIM cards will be suspended. This can be done by going to the nearest Altech Autopage Cellular retail outlet with your ID book and utility bill or latest 3 (three) months bank statement.
It is essential that the face-face verification is done when you, the contract holder produce your information in person.
Information regarding the effective dates will be announced to our subscribers as soon as we receive such notification.
